Cody Bateman

· 4th generation rancher actively managing the family operation.
· Operation focuses on sustainability and year-round grazing.
· Graduate of U of A with a BSc in Agriculture.
· Holds undergraduate awards from the Society for Range Management as well as being the first recipient of the John Cross Memorial award.
· Has sat on various committees and groups related to ranching.
· Most recently has been involved with provincial grazing and timber integration.

Mac Blades

· Steward, Rocking P Ranch
· Former Councilor for the Municipal District of Ranchlands - 16 years
· President of the Nanton Agricultural Society
· Member of the Western Stockgrowers Association
· Member of the management team for the Bob Creek Ecological Area
· Member of the Local Special Places 2000 Committee for the Whaleback

John Cross

· John Cross is the Steward of the a7 Ranche, officially the oldest cattle ranch in Canada still in the hands of the original family (his grandfather, A.E. Cross, was one of the "Big Four" founders of the Calgary Stampede).

He practices holistic resource management of his grasslands. This means a cyclical method of planning and monitoring towards a three-part, holistic goal, succeeding every year in landscape health, human well-being, and financial profitability. John has a strong commitment to preserving working ranches in Western Canada and is a frequent public speaker, when not out riding his horse on the range.

Kelly Hall

· Kelly and her husband Glen have been farming the Hall family land in the Stavely area since 1980. In 1985 they purchased grassland in the north end of the Porcupine Hills known as Timber Ridge. At that time they also became the managers of Bar None South that currently runs a 350 head Simmental Cow/Calf operation on 4000 acres of grass complemented by 5000 acres of farmland. Their three grown children have been an integral part of this partnership they`ve been committed to for the last 23 years. Kelly has been an active member of numerous organizations in their community. She was elected to serve as trustee for the Livingstone Range School Division in 1997; still holds that seat and has since had several opportunities to participate in a provincial capacity.

Mike Robinson

· Mike Robinson is a management consultant, speaker and writer with 22 years combined experience as CEO and President of the Glenbow Museum and Executive Director of the Arctic Institute of North America. His volunteer experience includes a decade of chairing board meetings of the David Suzuki Foundation and two terms as chair of the Canadian Polar Commission. He and his wife Lynn divide their time between Calgary and Saltery Bay, British Columbia.

Phil Rowland

· Phil Rowland and family are 4th generation stewards of their Longview ranch and Mazeppa farm. The operation consists of Cow Calf, grass back grounding and grass finishing as well as a tree lot, grain and oilseeds operation. Before taking over the ranch in the late 1980’s from his father, Phil worked in several countries doing industrial inspection and non-destructive testing. Phil was also President of a thriving Aircraft training, charter and maintenance company.

David Shaw

David is the President of Klarin Corporation – a developer, manufacturer and marketer of innovative water treatment equipment. David founded Klarin in 2003 and the company now works with international partners to provide leading edge systems for water disinfection and decontamination.

David has held various volunteer positions over the years and is currently the Treasurer of Trout Unlimited Canada.

His education and credentials include a BA (History) from the University of Regina, BComm and MBA from the University of Calgary, and a Certified Management Accountant designation (CMA).

Craig Smith

· Craig is a 4th generation rancher. He operates a cow/calf operation on the Waterton River near Hill Spring, Alberta.
· He married Mary Ellen Prince in 1991. They have five children.
· Graduated from the University of Alberta with a BA (History) in 1980.
· He did graduate studies in Natural Resource Management at the University of Calgary.
· Member of AgSummit 2000 team.
· Former president, Mid-Rivers Agricultural Society.
· Former chairman, Prairie Crocus Ranching Coalition.
· Director, United Irrigation District (UID).
· Director, Alberta Irrigation Projects Association (AIPA).

Alan Gardner

Alan has a long business background in Architecture, the Computer Industry, and Management. Most recently he was Consulting Director for Computer Associates, running their pre-sales, post-sales and web design organizations for Western Canada. Previous to entering the computer field he spent a dozen years as a practicing Architect in Calgary and Edmonton. His family has lived in the Pekisko country for over 100 years. He understands how to run a business and brings a wide variety of experience in large and small business to the job including project management, contract law, marketing, accounting, managing consultants, GIS mapping, Security, and web design.
