The Southern Alberta Land Trust Society is a small organization, working in association with landowners to achieve big goals. That means we depend on the support of a variety of financial contributors, supporters, and volunteers to get the work done.

Everyone has something different to offer, so there are a number of ways that you can contribute to SALTS' rangeland conservation work. We deeply appreciate all of them!

CONTRIBUTE TO THE SOUTHERN ALBERTA LAND TRUST SOCIETY

SALTS has an aggressive program planned for the next year. We depend on the support of a variety of financial contributors, supporters and volunteers to get the work done. The work of SALTS includes initiatives in the following key areas:
  • Education and Public Policy – Educating the community, the general public, industry, and government about the value of the native fescue grassland ecosystem within the Eastern Slopes, and the need to protect it from loss and fragmentation due to urban and industrial expansion.

  • Conservation Easements - Educating people about the value of conservation easements and succession planning, accepting donations of conservation easements, and monitoring the health and integrity of the easements already held by SALTS.

  • Science and Data Acquisition – Promoting and coordinating scientific studies into watershed issues, riparian health, native fescue grass, and appropriate land use policies.

  • Range Management and Monitoring Tools – Developing web-based range mapping and monitoring tools to help ranchers steward the native grassland resource, and to provide data on how it is changing.
